Luis Trenker

Presumably there is no need to introduce Luis Trenker. You certainly know the alpinist and story teller from his numerous films, appearances on TV or from his books, which are all about one theme: the mountains and his love for them.

Luis Trenker studied architecture from 1912 - 1914. During the first world war he was an officer in a mountain company. From 1922 to 1927 he was working as architect in Bozen.

During his long life he had always the wish to show as many people as possible the extraordinary beauty of the dolomites and to pass his inspiration for mountain to other people.

He was born on the 4th of October 1892 and despite of his eventful life and great successes he was always deeply connected with his home and his fellow countrymen.

Luis Trenker was 97 years old when he died in spring of 1990. And his memory will always be kept not only by the people of the Val Gardena valley but also by many foreign guests of this area.
